Your FormHop welcome pack

Thanks for installing FormHop. Here's how to check it's working in two minutes, where everything lives, and how to write long applications in Word.

2-minute quick start

1

Pick a mode

On the welcome page choose Protect every site (recommended) or Only when I ask.

2

Type

Open the practice form and type a few answers. In "Only when I ask" mode, click Protect this page first.

3

Reload

Press reload. The boxes empty – just like a timeout or crash.

4

Restore

A FormHop box appears in the bottom-right corner. Click Restore.

Try it on the practice form

The practice form is a pretend community grant application with short and long answers, character limits, a drop-down, options and a tick box. Nothing you type there is sent anywhere – even Submit application only shows a message, so you can see the copy FormHop keeps in All saved forms.

Draft long applications in Word Pro

Grant applications, tenders and job applications are easier to write in Word – with spell check, colleagues and no timeouts.

  1. Open the form. On a multi-page form, click Add page to draft on each page.
  2. Click Export to Word. You get a .docx with every question and its limit, plus a grey [FH-…] line under each one. Keep those lines – they tell FormHop where each answer goes.
  3. Write your answers under each question in Word, Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice, and save as .docx.
  4. Back on the form, click Fill from Word draft and choose your file. Check the preview – answers over a limit are flagged – then click Fill the form.
  5. Check the form and submit it yourself. FormHop never presses submit.

Try it free. Every install gets 3 free Pro tries. Each try covers one form, however many times you export or fill it – so you can draft a whole application before you decide. Pro is A$19 a year or A$29 once, from Settings → Get Pro.

Questions

Nothing was offered after I reloaded.

Click the FormHop icon on that page – your answers may be listed there. If the icon shows an orange !, choose Finish setup. In "Only when I ask" mode, FormHop only saves pages where you've clicked Protect this page.

Will Restore overwrite what I've typed since?

No. FormHop only fills empty boxes.

Do I need Microsoft Word for Pro?

No. The draft is a standard .docx that opens in Word, Google Docs, Pages and LibreOffice.

How long are answers kept?

Free keeps 7 days, then deletes them automatically. Pro keeps them until you delete them, or for a shorter time you choose in Settings.

I use more than one computer.

Saved answers stay on the computer where you typed them. If you have Pro, install FormHop on the other computer and use Settings → Already paid? Restore purchase with the email you paid with.
